On the afternoon of October 3, the Firefighting and Rescue Team of Area 2 (Firefighting and Rescue Police Department, Gia Lai Provincial Police) coordinated with Dai Thanh Wood Technology Joint Stock Company (Quy Nhon Tay Ward) to organize a firefighting and rescue drill.
According to the hypothetical situation, during the welding, cutting and repair process at the factory, due to technical incompetence, welding slag splashed into the area where solvent was stored, causing a fire.
The automatic fire alarm and firefighting system had been temporarily shut down for repairs, so detection was slow. The fire quickly spread over an area of about 85 m², with the main combustible materials being wood, solvents, and electrical equipment. Thick black smoke covered the factory area, and 2 workers were trapped inside.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Area 2 quickly mobilized forces and vehicles to the scene, deployed a search-and-rescue team, brought the two victims out safely, and organized water spraying to extinguish the fire while moving assets to safety.
The drill not only raised awareness and situation-handling skills for the on-site team, but also strengthened coordination between professional and local fire fighting forces, improving response effectiveness in the event of a real fire or explosion.
