Firefighting and rescue drill
On the afternoon of October 3, the Firefighting and Rescue Team of Area 2 (Firefighting and Rescue Police Department, Gia Lai Provincial Police) coordinated with Dai Thanh Wood Technology Joint Stock Company (Quy Nhon Tay Ward) to organize a firefighting and rescue drill.
According to the hypothetical situation, during the welding and cutting and repairing process at the factory, due to technical incompetence, welding slag splashed into the area where the solvent was placed, causing a fire.
The automatic fire alarm and firefighting system was temporarily shut down for repairs, so the detection time was slow, the fire quickly broke out over an area of about 85 m² with the main combustible materials being wood, solvents, and electrical equipment. Thick black smoke covered the factory area, 2 workers were trapped inside.
Immediately after detecting the fire, the local fire fighting force raised the alarm, cut off the power, organized an escape and deployed on-site equipment for initial control.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Area 2 quickly mobilized forces and vehicles to the scene; deployed a search and rescue team, brought the two victims out safely; at the same time, moved assets and organized water spraying to extinguish the fire.
The drill not only contributed to raising awareness and situation handling skills for the local force, but also enhanced the smooth coordination between professional and local fire fighting forces; thereby, improving the effectiveness of response when a fire or explosion occurs.
